Characteristics ~ ~ ~ ~
The last living member of the Temnospondyl family Koolasuchus has to be one of the Koolest amphibians. Living in Early Cretaceous southern Australia, which at the time was closer to the equator yet had a Kooler climate. It was around 12 to 15 feet long and over half a ton. Living in the murky swamps, Koolasuchus had a lifestyle very similar to a crocodile, eating mostly fish but the occasional mammal and small dinosaur that wandered into its marsh. It wasn't until crocodiles appeared within Australia from the warmer climates that they were more suited to that Koolasuchus went extinct.
History & Fossils ~ ~ ~ ~
The first fossils of Koolasuchus were discovered and prepared by Lesely Kool around 1978. Known material included the left Mandibe, some skull fragments, a clavical, some vertabrae, and pieces of the shoulder girdle.
Media Deptictions ~ ~ ~ ~
Walking With Dinosaurs Koolasuchus is a supporting character in Spirit of the Ice Forests episode 5. Ocassionally waiting by the waters edge for some Leaellynasaura and migrating when the waters get too cold.
Jurassic mobile Games Koolasuchus appeared in most of mobile spinoffs. Honestly I think the Jurassic Park Builder model looks the best which is funny as it looks like a roblox model. In the modern mobile games Koolasuchus is the base for the Temnospondyl animation set, so they gave it a smalled head and stubbier body to generalize proportions for other amphibans.
