Characteristics ~ ~ ~ ~

There is a species of extinct crocodile also named Dyrosaurus (notice how the y is before the r), which also has a family of crocodilians named Dyrosauridae. Dryosaurus was a relatively small dinosaur when compared to the rest of the Morrison formation, reaching 3 meters long and weighing around 200 pounds. They are light-footed animals. If startled, they can run at an estimated speed of 25mph. Dryosaurus has very large eyes for their skull giving them great binocular vision, smell __, hearing ___. Dyrosaurs either lived a solitary lifestyle like deer, using their high perception to spot their predators, then run from them: Allosaurus, Torvosaurus, and Ceratosaurus in particular, which were adapted for speed. Or occasionally joining mixed species herds and serving as a lookout for predators, and hiding behind the larger herbivores like Stegosaurus and Diplodocus.

History & Fossils ~ ~ ~ ~

Named in 1878 by Professor Othniel Charles Marsh as a new species of Laosaurus, Laosaurus Altus, Altus meaning tall. But in 1894 enough was found that it was classified as its own species

Media Deptictions ~ ~ ~ ~

Jurassic World Evolution it is featured in the Herbivore species pack. Dryosaurus is the only species of its kind and is thus very unique. Making chirping noises and large, cute eyes certainly makes it a contender for the cutest species. It has very bright skin colors, my favorite being the color and pattern that makes it look like a Day Gecko.
