Subspecies: J.kaniukura

Characteristics

Jakapil was a genus of basal thyreophoran dinosaur from the Candeleros Formation of Argentina. Thyreophorans are ornithischian dinosaurs characterized by rows of armor. The group is mostly known because their group was when the divide between stegosaurus, ankylosaurus, and nodosaurs began. Jakapil was unique because it was around the size of a dog and bipedal, unlike other Stegosaurs and Ankylosaurs. Jakapil had a strongly developed lower jaw, meaning it chewed its food. Jakapil had small scutes along its body, especially around the neck for armor, which set it apart from other small dinosaurs. Although it is similar to Scutellosaurus, it diverged way later
